BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- Union College senior Falon Catalano has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference's Pitcher of the Week for the period ending Apr. 17th the league announced on Monday. It marks the second straight week that the Lady Bulldog senior has garnered the pitcher of the week award.

Catalano (Manchester, Tenn.) was very impressive on the week, going 2-1, recording wins against Bluefield on Apr. 12 and Virginia Intermont on Apr. 14. In the Bluefield win, Catalano struck out 16 batters to break a school record, while giving up just three hits to lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 5-0 shutout win.

Against Virginia Intermont, Catalano notched the fourth no-hitter in school history and the second of her season in Union's 10-0 win. In the victory, Catalano struck out 10 and almost tossed a perfect game, but gave up a walk in the game's final inning.

For the season, Catalano is 8-5 with a 1.63 ERA with 126 strikeouts and just 19 walks. She has also come out of the bullpen and recorded five saves on the year, as well.

Catalano and the rest of the Lady Bulldogs return to action on Friday when they host Pikeville is the team's regular season finale. First pitch in the doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
