BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- Union College senior Falon Catalano has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference's Pitcher of the Week for the period ending Apr. 10th on Monday the league announced.

Catalano (Manchester, Tenn.) had an impressive week in the pitching circle for the Lady Bulldogs, going 1-1 overall (with a 1.81 ERA) to improve her record on the year to 6-4 on the year. She also recorded her third save of the season, pitching a perfect seventh inning in Union's game two win game two over University of the Cumberlands on Wednesday.

Catalano's win on the week came against Milligan on Thursday, where she hurled a complete game shutout in the Lady Bulldogs' 1-0 win. In the win, she allowed just two hits and two walks, striking out eight. Catalano was also impressive in a no decision against St. Catharine yesterday, going six and one thirds, giving up four runs (three earned) on four hits, while striking out seven. At one point in the contest, however, Catalano retired 18 straight St. Catharine batters.

Catalano and the rest of the Lady Bulldogs return to action tomorrow when they host Bluefield in an AAC doubleheader at Union Field. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
