BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union men's basketball coach Sean Gillespie has announced that Lucas Branch has signed a letter of intent to join the Bulldog program this fall.

Lucas comes to Union from Knoxville Catholic High School in Knoxville, Tenn., where was a four year starter for the Fighting Irish.

"We are pleased to see that Lucas chose to be a part of the Bulldog basketball program," said Gillespie. "He comes with both high academic and athletic success from Knoxville Catholic. We are excited to get the caliber young men like Lucas in our program that understand the responsibilities of being successful in the classroom, and in the athletic arena as well,"

"He will be a great fit in our program both on and off the court."

During his high school career at Knoxville Central, Lucas averaged 10 points and 3 assists a game, and shot 35% from outside the three point line. He also led his team to bids in four straight regional tournaments at the 4-AAA level in Tennessee, and to a district championship in the 2007-08 season.

The Bulldogs, who ended this past season with a 16-16 overall record, captured the 2010-11 AAC Tournament Championship and represented the league at the 2011 NAIA National Tournament.
