BARBOURVILLE, Ky -- Union interim women's soccer coach Camila Mendes  has announced that Kaitie Crawford has signed a letter of intent to play in the Lady Bulldog program beginning this fall.

Crawford, who is a goalkeeper, is a native of Bristol, Va. where she has prepped at Virginia High School.

"Katie is going to add solid depth to our goalkeeper position," Mendes said. "I'm very excited to add her to our program and I feel confident that she will develop into a player that can perform at the collegiate level, and more importantly, she will push our other goalkeepers and make the position very competitive."

Crawford has played the last three years at Virginia High, earning a letter in each of the last three seasons. She was also the teams captain the last two years, leading the team to the Clinch Mountain district and postseason tournament championships in 2009, along with a VSHL Region "D" title in '09.

Individually, Crawford has been named to the All-Clinch Mountain District Team twice and was named her teams defensive player of the year in 2010.

Crawford, the daughter of Debbi and Tim Crawford, plans to major in athletic training, with a minor in drama when she enrolls at Union in the fall.
