KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Union swimmer Jeremiah Back was honored for his work in the classroom on Monday, as he was named to the 2011 NAIA Daktronics Men's Swimming & Diving Scholar Athlete team.

Back is one of 14 student-athletes named to this years team. In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.

Back, a senior from Flatgap, Ky., swam the fly all season for the Bulldogs, helping the team place fifth at the Appalachian Swimming Conference Championships and 10th at the NAIA National Championships.
