BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- Union College men's basketball players Nathan Beckley and Ryan Young were recently named the the 2011 Appalachian Athletic Conference's All-Academic team for their work in the classroom.

Beckley, a senior guard, earns a spot on the All-Academic squad for the third straight season. Beckley has played in 25 of the teams 31 games on the year, making two starts. He averaged 2.4 points per game, 19 assists, six steals and four blocks.

Young, a sophomore guard, has seen action in all 31 games the Bulldogs have played on the season, making 27 starts. He is fifth on the team in scoring, averaging 8.7 points per game and is the team leader in assists recording 72 on the year.

Union, winners of the 2011 AAC Tournament Championship, open the NAIA National Tournament on Wednesday when they take on No. 1 Walsh. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. EST in St. Charles, Mo.
