BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- Union swimmer Kyle Newhouse was named the Appalachian Swimming Conferences Men's Swimmer of the Week, the league announced recently.

Newhouse (Stone Mountain, Ga.), a junior, earned the award for the third straight week after posting an impressive showing in Union's senior day dual meet against KIng and Bethel on Feb. 12.

In the meet, Newhouse lead off the the winning 200-medley relay with a mark of 25.61, then won the 1650-free  in 17:31.91 and in the process broke school records in the 500 (4:53.70), 1000 (10:05.95), and the 1650-free as well. Later, he won the 40o-IM (4:23.46), which was another program record, and finished off the day with a win in the 100-back (57.10).

Newhouse will swim in the NAIA National Swimming and Diving Championships in several events. The event starts on March 2nd in St. Peters, Mo.
