BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- Union College sophomore guard Brent Cork was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference men's basketball player of the week on Monday.

Cork, a Saginaw, Mich. native, helped the Bulldogs go 1-1 last week and record an impressive 75-68 road win at conference leader Milligan Saturday.

In the victory, Cork notched a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. In the Bulldogs' first game of the week, a 76-71 loss to Montreat, Cork was Union's leading scorer in defeat, scoring 14 points and snatching seven rebounds.

Overall on the year, Cork is averaging 10.5 points a game and 5.4 rebounds a contest. He also has recorded 13 steals and four blocks in just 11 games played on the year.

Cork and the rest of the Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday night when they host Tennessee Wesleyan at Robsion Arena in the team's home regular season finale. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
