MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. - Union suffered another setback Saturday as the Lady Bulldogs dropped a 79-59 decision at Milligan (Tenn.) in Appalachian Athletic Conference play.

The loss puts Union at 16-11 overall and 6-6 in conference play, while Milligan improved to 20-8 overall and 8-4 in the AAC.

The Lady Bulldogs struggled offensively, shooting 31.6 percent (18-of-57 shots) from the field and 27.6 percent (8-of-29 shots) from 3-point range. Meanwhile, the Lady Buffaloes hit 26-of-53 shots (49.1 percent) from the floor and nailed 9-of-18 of their 3-point attempts.

Union never led in the game but kept things close early on as an Amber Taylor (Clinton, Tenn.) 3-pointer pulled the Lady Bulldogs within 16-15 with 12:38 to go in the first half. However, Milligan closed out the period 27-8 surge to take a 43-23 halftime lead.

In the second half, Union rallied to cut the deficit to 57-47 following a Kelci Jones (Corbin, Ky.) free throw at the 9:11 mark. But that was as close as Union could get as Milligan notched the 79-59 victory.

Taylor paced Union with 20 points, five rebounds and three assists. Alyson Roberts (Baxter, Tenn.) followed with 15 points.

For Milligan, Heather Mandela led the way with 22 points and nine rebounds with Alisha Mainer knocking in 15. Johneshia Good and Megan Casteel both chipped in 12 points.

The Lady Buffaloes controlled the boards, outrebounding Union 40-22.

Union returns to action Wednesday when it plays host to Tennessee Wesleyan. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
