KANSAS CITY, Mo.-- Union sophomore Turrell Morris has been named the NAIA's Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week the national office announced Tuesday.

Morris (Columbus, Ohio) was selected based on his performances from Jan. 3-9 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/independent/unaffiliated groupings.

Morris, a forward who earned Appalachian Athletic Conference player of the week honors on Monday, paced the Bulldogs to wins in their first two AAC games on the season this past week. Union won at Virginia Intermont 91-87 last Thursday and defeated Reinhardt 82-77 at home this past Saturday.

He averaged 25.5 points in the victories and seven rebounds per game. Morris also shot a torrid 90.5 percent (19-for-21) from the floor on the week, going a perfect 11-for-11 in Union's win over Reinhardt.

On the season, Morris leads the AAC in scoring averaging 19.69 points per game and rebounding with 9.75 boards per game. He also ranks ninth in the entire NAIA in rebounding, 11th in field goal percentage (.590), 25th in scoring and 25th in blocks (1.4 bpg).

Morris and the rest of the Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Bluefield in an AAC tilt. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
