BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College juniors Heather Jaques and Karla Goncalves were recognized by the Appalachian Athletic Conference as they were named to the Women's Soccer All-Conference Team, the league announced Thursday.

Jaques was tabbed for the All-AAC Second Team with Goncalves landing on the Third Team.

The Lady Bulldogs are 7-7-2 on the season. Union tied fourth-seeded Montreat (N.C.) College Tuesday in the opening round of the conference tournament, but Union advanced to the semifinal round by winning the shootout 5-3.

Jaques (Manitoba, Canada) leads the Lady Bulldogs in scoring this season with 13 goals, six assists and 32 points. She has had five multi-goal games, including a hat trick versus Mountain State (W.Va.) University on Sept. 14.

Goncalves (Sao Paulo, Brazil) has been a solid defender for Union while also providing an offensive threat. She has four goals, six assists and 14 points to her credit.

In addition to making the Third Team, Goncalves earned a spot on the AAC All-Academic Team. Also joining Goncalves on the squad are Ashleigh Mensch (Elizabethtown, Ky.), Missy Campbell (Baltimore, Ohio) and Karin Moore (Owingsville, Ky.).

Union will be playing King (Tenn.) College Friday in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal round. Game time is set for 11 a.m. in Chattanooga, Tenn.
