BARBOURVILLE., Ky. -- Union sophomore Turrell Morris has been  named the Appalachian Athletic Conference's men's basketball player of the week, the league announced on Monday.

This marks the second week in a row Morris has received the honor.

The Columbus, Ohio, native registered his fourth and fifth double-doubles of the season as the Bulldogs went 1-1 last week. Union is now 4-5 on the year.

Morris posted 16 points and had 14 rebounds in an 86-71 loss at Friends (Kan.) University. He followed that with a 29-point, 13-rebound performance in a 71-66 overtime win against NCAA Division II Carson-Newman.

Morris also scored 10 points and snared eight rebounds in an exhibition loss to Lincoln Memorial on Friday night.

On the week, he averaged 22.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game and connected on 62.1 percent of his shots from the field.

Morris and the rest of the Bulldog men's basketball team returns to action on Friday evening when they take on Asbury at the Roland Wierwille Classic held at Berea College. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
