BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union received 52 points from its bench as the Lady Bulldogs handed visiting Emmanel (Ga.) a 71-60 defeat Friday in the Union College Classic.

Rebecca Gray (Georgetown, Ky.) poured in a game-high 26 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the floor, while freshman Kelci Jones (Corbin, Ky.) chipped in 16 points as she made 6 of her 7 shots.

The Lady Bulldogs hit 45.1 percent (23 of 51 shots) from the floor but connected on 20-of-23 free throws. Meanwhile, Emmanuel made just 37.1 percent (23 of 62) from the field and was 11 of 20 on its free throws.

Up 37-31 at the half, Union struggled coming out in the second half as Emmanuel took a 44-43 lead following a Krystyn Young layup with 14:43 to go. The Lady Bulldogs regrouped and used a 14-4 rally to take a 58-48 lead. Gray capped the run with a 3-pointer at the 8:14 mark.

Union's lead hovered around the 10-point range the rest of the way as Union captured the 71-60 victory.

Young led Emmanuel with 22 points, while Caneisha Bell added 11. Ashley Jackson had only six points but hauled in a game-high 12 rebounds.

In the Classic's other game, Reinhardt (Ga.) defeated Alice Lloyd (Ky.) 70-61. Karina Gass led Reinhardt with 17 points, while Gemma Gay paced Alice Lloyd with 14.

Union (3-1 overall) returns to action Saturday at 6 p.m. against Alice Lloyd. Emmanuel (2-2 overall) will face Reinhardt at 3 p.m.
