GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- The Union women's basketball team lost to host Georgetown College, 81-62 in the final game of the 2010 Georgetown Habitat for Humanity Classic on Saturday.

With the loss, Union fell to 1-1 on the season, while Georgetown improved to 2-0 with the win.

Georgetown held a slim 35-29 lead after the first period and was helped by an even 50 percent shooting performance from the field. Junior Rebecca Gray (Georgetown, Ky.) kept the Lady Bulldogs in the game after scoing 13 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the field.

In the second half, Georgetown controlled things from the start and outscored the Lady Bulldogs 46-33 in the period to run away with the convincing 19 point victory .

Overall, Georgetown was led by Kourtney Tyra who scored 15 points. Gray led Union, also scoring 15 points with four assists and three steals. Other top Lady Bulldog scorers on the afternoon included Wendi Messer (Barbourville, Ky.), who had 11 points and Kara Pile (Fairdale, Ky.), who scored 10 and recorded three assists.

Union returns to action on Tuesday when they host Mid-Continent in the squad's 2010-11 home opener at Robsion Arena. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
