BARBOURVILLE, Ky -- Four separate Union College women's soccer players scored goals to pace the streaking Lady Bulldogs to a a 4-1 victory over visiting Missouri Baptist in out-of-conference action on Saturday afternoon at Bulldog Field.
With the win, Union moved to 10-6 overall on the season and won their fifth straight match. Missouri Baptist fell to 9-7 with the loss.
The Lady Bulldogs used a strong first half to register another victory in the win column, as they scored three goals in the period. First, Ashley Hall (Hazard, Ky.) found the back of the net in the 13th minute to give Union a 1-0 lead. The goal for Hall was her 16th on the season (in 16 matches) and bumped the senior's point total on the year to an impressive 34 points.
Union made it 2-0 in the 37th minute after starting goalie Patricia Nardy (Sao Paulo, Brazil) came out of goal and laced a successful penalty shot past Missouri Baptist goalie Michelle Smith. With the successful attempt, Nardy is now a perfect two-for-two on penalty shots on the year.
The final score of the half came a minute later, as Stephanie Cagle (Independence, Ky) found the back of the net off a Renata Peixoto (Brasilia, Brazil) assist. For Cagle, the goal was her fifth of the year, while Peixoto was credited with her seventh assist of the season on the play.
In the second half, Missouri Baptist's Ashley Burton got her team on the scoreboard in the 85th minute, but Union responded fast, as Nikki Jeck (Richmond, Ky.) scored her first goal of the season off a Chelsi Walls (Stanford, Ky.) assist a mere two minutes later to record the final score of the day.
Overall, Union outshot Missouri Baptist 18-12 on the day. Nardy made four saves in net, while not allowing a goal in 73 minutes of action to record another solid day in net.
Union returns to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 30th when they host Cincinnati Baptist on Senior Day. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Burch-Nau Field.
