WALESKA, Ga. - Pushed the limit, Union came up just a little short in defeating Reinhardt (Ga.) in Appalachian Athletic Conference play Saturday at the host Lady Eagles pulled out the 3-2 victory.

The loss drops Union to 15-11 overall and 8-2 in the AAC, while Reinhardt improved to 14-8 overall and 6-5 in the conference.

Reinhardt took the opening set 25-23, but Union rallied to take the next two sets 25-10, 25-21. The Lady Eagles forced a fifth set with a 25-23 win in the fourth frame.

Play went back and forth in the fifth set, but Reinhardt finally scored back-to-back points to claim the 21-19 decision and the match.

Vitoria Oliveria (Sao Paulo, Brazil) posted a team-high 20 kills and had 15 digs for Union. Karina Ramos (Presidente, Brazil) followed with 17 kills, and Cat Neumann (Louisville, Ky.) hammered home 12 kills.

Monica Moreland (Louisville, Ky.) served up 40 assists to go along with 13 digs. Kalia Yasak (Kula, Hawaii) had 21 assists, and Linsey Ellis (Florence, Ky.) chipped in 15 digs. Brooke Porter (Louisville, Ky.) helped out with 14 digs.

Union is now 3-2 in five-set matches this season.

The Lady Bulldogs return to action Tuesday when they pay Milligan (Tenn.) a visit in another AAC battle. Match time is set for 6:30 p.m.
