MT. VERNON, Ohio - Union collected a pair of hard-fought victories Saturday at the Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) Tournament, improving its record to 11-9 on the season.

The Lady Bulldogs defeated Marian (Ind.) 3-1, winning 25-19, 19-25, 25-22, 25-13. Then, Union downed Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) 3-2 by the scores of 24-26, 25-15, 25-22, 20-25, 15-8. The win over Roberts Wesleyan avenges a 3-2 loss Union suffered at the Malone (Ohio) Tournament in early September.

Senior libero Amanda Silva (Londrina, Brazil) made the All-Tournament Team after registering 127 digs in the four matches Union played.

Against Marian, Kalia Yasak (Kula, Hawaii) had 26 assists with Monica Moreland (Louisville, Ky.) posting 23. Silva delivered 34 digs, while Brittany Harris (Louisville, Ky.) had 11 kills. Lauren McMillian (Corbin, Ky.), Karina Ramos (Presidente, Brazil) and Cat Neumann (Louisville, Ky.) all had seven kills.

In the win over Roberts Wesleyan, Silva recorded 46 digs while Neumann hammered home 18 kills. McMillian and Ramos each had 10 with Maddie Peterson (Soda Springs, Idaho) had 8.

Yasak posted 32 assists, while Moreland notched 18 helpers.

Union returns to action Tuesday when it pays Tennessee Wesleyan a visit in Appalachian Athletic Conference play at 6:30 p.m.
