BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union found itself in a hole it could not dig out of Saturday. Visiting Milligan (Tenn.) struck for two first-half goals and held on for the 2-1 Appalachian Athletic Conference win, handing the Lady Bulldogs their first conference loss since 2008.

The loss drops Union to 5-5 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while Milligan improves to 4-2-2 overall and 2-0 in the AAC.

Union returns to action Wednesday when it travels to Lee (Tenn.). Game time is set for 7 p.m.

The Lady Buffaloes seized the early advantage when Lauren Lameier drilled home a penalty kick in the 22nd minute to make it 1-0.

With less than 10 minutes to go in the half, Rachel Martin made it a 2-0 Milligan when she scored off a deflection.

The Lady Bulldogs wouldn't get on the scoreboard until the 58th minute when Jenn Sckirl (Edmonton, Canada) hammered in a rebound, pulling Union within 2-1.

However, Union could not complete the comeback as Milligan held on for the 2-1 decision.
