WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - Stephanie Burton came through with a goal during the final 10 minutes of the game to left visiting Union to a 3-2 victory over Cumberlands (Ky.).

The win was the second in a row for the Lady Bulldogs as they improve to 3-4 on the year. The loss drops Cumberlands to 1-3-1 overall.

Despite the tightness of the game, Union never trailed. The Lady Bulldogs drew first blood when Stephanie Cagle (Independence, Ky.) chipped ball toward the net from 25 yards out, and Ashley Hall (Hazard, Ky.) knocked it home for a 1-0 lead.

Cumberlands evened the score at 1-1, but Hannah Goins (Corbin, Ky.) set up Cagle for a goal in the 30th minute to give Union a 2-1 halftime lead.

It remained 2-1 until the 70th minute when the Lady Patriots deposited the equalizer.

However, Union collected the game-winner when Chelsi Walls (Stanford, Ky.) played a ball to Burton (Queensland, Australia), who weaved her way through the Cumberlands defense before finding the back of the net to make it 3-2 in the 83rd minute.

Patricia Nardy (Sao Paulo, Brazil) recorded 11 saves in picking the win.

Union returns to action Saturday when it begins Appalachian Athletic Conference play at Reinhardt (Ga.). Game time is set for 2 p.m.
