BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - It's been a bit of a rough spell for Union, and things continued on that path Thursday as visiting Campbellsville (Ky.) handed the Lady Bulldogs a 2-0 defeat.

The loss dropped Union to 1-4 on the year and was third shutout loss in a row. The Lady Bulldogs have been outscored 9-5 on the season and 7-0 in the last three contests.

Campbellsville improved to 2-2 following the win.

Union returns to action Saturday when it begins a four-game road trip at West Virginia Tech. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

Both teams had their chances in the first half with Campbellsville firing seven shots on goal and Union six. Sophomore Nikki Jeck (Richmond, Ky.) had three solid shots on goal, but Campbellsville goalkeeper Brandie Hagerman was up to the task.

Senior goalkeeper Patricia Nardy (Sao Paulo, Brazil) made seven stops during the first 45 minutes as the game went into the half knotted at 0-0.

It wasn't until the 61st minute that the scoreless tie came to end on an amazing 25-yard shot from Kelsey Mandel. Set up by Cassie Yannelli, Mandel fired the long-range shot from a little left of midfield and deposited in the upper right back corner of the net to make it 1-0 Campbellsville.

A few minutes later, Jessica Ralph scored from about 18 yards out to give Campbellsville a 2-0 advantage.

Campbellsville controlled play much of the second half, firing five shots on goal to Union's one.

Nardy finished with 10 saves, while Hagerman stopped seven in picking up the shutout.
