MONTREAT, N.C. – For the Union College women’s soccer team, the Appalachian Athletic Conference season came to an end with a heartbreaking overtime 2-1 loss at Montreat (N.C.) College Wednesday afternoon.

After the match, Union moves to 3-3-1 in the conference and finish fifth. The Lady Bulldogs hold an overall record of 6-7-1. Montreat finishes conference play in fourth at 4-3 and 10-4-1 overall. The two squads will meet again Tuesday in the first round of the AAC Tournament at Montreat with the time to be announced.

Union took the lead when Amanda Weber (Ontario, Canada) scored on a breakaway in the 11th minute.

Montreat tied the match in the second half and scored in the first overtime period to capture the conference win.

The Lady Bulldogs will finish the regular season Saturday with a home contest against Pikeville (Ky.) College at 2 p.m.
