BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College Men's Basketball program announced today the signing of two guards, Josh Haggard (Lexington, Ky.) and Chris Evans (Mt. Vernon, Ky.) to its roster for the 2010-11 season.
"Chris is another solid addition to the men's basketball program here at Union College," commented Head Men's Basketball Coach Sean Gillespie. "We are pleased Chris chose to attend Union and play basketball for us. He will be a fantastic asset both on and off the court, and will represent our program well. We are looking forward to seeing Chris pursue his desire to play collegiate basketball with the Bulldog family."
Also inking with the Bulldogs, from Blue Grass Baptist School in Lexington, is 6-foot guard Josh Haggard.
While at Blue Grass Baptist, Haggard earned KCAA All-State team honors twice, was a four-time Fourth-Region All Star honoree, and also became a member of the 1,500 point club in his three years of starting on varsity.
In his senior season, Haggard was also recognized with the KCAA Mr. Basketball Award for his accomplishments.
"I am excited about Josh joining the Bulldog basketball program here at Union College," commented Gillespie. "It has been a goal of his to be able to play college basketball and I'm excited we are able give him that opportunity."
Gillespie went n to say,"Josh is going to be a young man that will represent our program in a way that represents who we want to be, here in the basketball program. He is a solid guard that has a lot of upside still in his game."
