BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College men's swimming program improved today as Stephen Reed Schrader (Shelbyville, Ky.) signed his letter of intent, head coach Rafael Forti announced today.

Schrader will be joining the program for the 2010-11 season.
The Trinity High School senior brings 10 years of swimming experience to Barbourville as well as the discipline of being a student-athlete as Schrader has been on the honor roll for 11 straight years.
While at Trinity, Schrader has been on the State Team for five years to go along with being named the Most Valuable Swimmer award for the past two years. Schrader has also been a member for the Shelby Sharks and Trinity Shamrocks club teams during his time at Trinity High School.
After signing his letter of intent, Reed commented, "I look forward to obtaining a great college education at Union. I will strive to become the best student and swimmer I am capable of becoming and I am excited to begin a new phase in my life."
Head coach Forti feels Schrader's signing is a step in the right direction for the program, adding, "I am happy to have Reed joining our program as he brings in many years of experience in competitive swimming. He will add depth to our middle distance range events, especially in the butterfly and backstroke events."
Schrader plans on majoring in pre-physical therapy while at Union College.
