BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union men's basketball program announced today the signing of James David (J.D.) Strange to its program for the 2010-11 campaign.

Strange joins the program after transferring from Transylvania University, an NCAA D-III member.

Strange, a 6-foot point guard from Pineville, Ky., was a highly touted cager coming out of high school, garnering a nomination for the McDonalds All-American team in 2009 and earning Region XIII Player of the Year honors twice (2008, 2009). Strange was also selected to the All-Region XIII First Team in three consecutive seasons (2007-09).

The Pineville, Ky. native is no stranger to playing well in big games, notching back-to-back Most Valuable Player honors for the Region XIII Class ĎA' tournament in 2008 and 2009. He also earned state-wide recognition as a junior, notching All-State Honorable Mention honors in 2008.

"I am extremely pleased to have J.D. Strange sign with us," commented men's head basketball coach Sean Gillespie. "It is always great to get local student-athletes who are excited about joining the Bulldog family, but it is even better when the student-athletes carry a level of talent that can help our program."

Coach Gillespie went on to say, "We believe J.D. will be able to come in and help the program immediately. Union College will be a great place for him to finish his education as well as his collegiate career."
