BLUEFIELD, Va. - The Union College Lady Bulldogs belted seven round-trippers en route to an Appalachian Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep of Bluefield College Monday afternoon, 7-2 and 9-0 (5 innings).

With the wins Union improves to 12-8 (6-2 AAC) while Bluefield falls to 6-12 (0-6 AAC) on the season.

The Lady Bulldogs now sit in third place in the conference standings at 6-2, with half the conference season left to play.

The Lady Bulldogs broke the record for homeruns in a game, smacking four long balls in game one as Union topped the Lady Rams 7-2.

Recording two round-trippers and tying the individual school record for homeruns in a game was Abby Sears (London, Ky.) as the sophomore went 2-for-3 with two homeruns and four RBI's.

Also smacking homeruns for Union were Ashley Tatman (Lexington, Ky.) and Bethany Outland (Hopkinsville, Ky.).

Gina Loflin (Salisbury, N.C.) had a solid game, tallying two hits in three trips to the dish.

Sarah Driver (Hopkinsville, Ky.), Autumn Greenwell (Hopkinsville, Ky.), Jennifer Burke (Ewing, Va.) and Jessie Dunning (Bowling Green, Ky.) all recorded a hit in the game one win.

Earning the win for Union in the circle was senior Sarah Driver (6-4) as the Hopkinsville, Ky. native tossed all seven innings, recording 11 strikeouts and allowing two runs while only giving up two hits.

Union's offense did not stop rolling as the evening moved into game two as the Lady Bulldogs ambushed Bluefield, 9-0 in five innings.

Abby Sears notched the win (6-3) in the circle for Union as the sophomore did not allow a single run in the contest. Sears amassed four strikeouts while only allowing two hits in the tilt.

Ashley Tatman stole the show offensively, going 2-for-3 with two homeruns (ties single game record). Tatman belted three homeruns in the doubleheader.

Autumn Greenwell also had a solid game offensively going 2-for-3 with a round-tripper.

Lee Davis (Lexington, Ky.) and Jessie Dunning recorded two hits apiece in the contest, both going 2-for-2.

Sophomore Ali Blauser (Hopkinsville, Ky.) went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Outland and Loflin both notched a hit and an RBI for the Lady Bulldogs.

Sarah Driver also recorded a hit for Union in the second contest.

The Lady Bulldogs hit a total of seven homeruns in the two games against the Lady Rams.

Union returns to the diamond on Wednesday for an AAC doubleheader as it travels to Milligan College. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
