ATHENS, Tenn. - No. 17 Union suffered a minor setback Friday as host Tennessee Wesleyan handed the visiting Bulldogs a 14-6 Appalachian Athletic Conference defeat.

The loss drops Union to 23-8 overall and 10-2 in the AAC, while Tennessee Wesleyan improves to 25-9 overall and 10-2 in league play.

The two squads will face off in a doubleheader Saturday with the first pitch set for 1 p.m.

Union held the early advantage, leading 2-1 after two innings. However, Tennessee Wesleyan posted four runs in the fourth for a 5-2 lead.

In the top of the fifth, Union pulled within 5-3, but Tennessee Wesleyan countered with three runs in the bottom of the frame to make it an 8-3 contest. 

Down 11-3 in the eighth, Union rallied for three runs to make it a five-run contest again. Yet, Tennessee Wesleyan had another answer as it pushed three runs in the bottom of the inning to seal the 14-6 decision.

Union has held to eight hits.
