ROME, Ga. - The Lady Bulldogs dropped its afternoon contest at the Shorter Classic against host no. 12 Shorter College, 4-0, Saturday afternoon.

The loss drops Union to 1-2 (0-0 AAC) on the year.

The Lady Bulldogs were right with the Hawks until the seventh inning where Shorter broke the game open, plating three in the top of the seventh inning to make the score 4-0. The Bulldogs fought back in the bottom half of the seventh as they had runners on first and second with only one out.

A Bethany Outland (Hopkinsville, Ky.) steal attempt did not go the Lady Bulldog's way as she was thrown out at third and the game ended one batter later as senior Sarah Driver (Hopkinsville, Ky.) struck out to end the comeback attempt.

Driver pitched well again for Union in the opening weekend of the season as she went the distance, only giving up two earned runs on seven hits and six strikeouts.
