LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga.- The Bulldogs stayed hot as they steamrolled Covenant College Saturday in non-conference action, 67-35, for its sixth win in its last seven contests.

With the win, Union improved their record to 16-12, while Covenant College drops to 3-18 on the year.

Union dominated on both ends of the floor in the first half, holding the Scots to just 6-of-29 (20.7 percent) shooting in the half while torching the nets at a clip of 12-for-26 (46.2 percent). The Bulldog's saw their lead grow to as much as 18 points just before halftime as the Scots looked for any way to slow the Union attack.

Union slightly cooled off offensively in the second half, only shooting 12-of-29 (41.4 percent) as the Scots tried to climb back into the game, cutting the Union lead down to 12 points. The Scots could not complete the comeback however, as their long range offense did not show up, going 0-for-11 on the day from the land of plenty.

The Bulldog's defense continued to sizzle in the second half, recording a new season high 55 rebounds, 35 boards in the second half, and holding the Scots to just 35 points for the game, a season low for the Scots, as well as any Union opponent.

The Bulldogs were led on the day by a stellar performance from Junior forward Josh Hurd (Independence, KY) netting 15 points, nine rebounds and three blocks on the evening. Union also received solid contributions from forwards Kearney Demus (Lexington, KY) and Beau Brown (Athens, TN), both tallying 14 points in the win.

Leading the way for Covenant in the contest was Joey Danek with nine points.

The Bulldogs return to action Wednesday night as they play host to Montreat College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
