BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Union College senior Armond Smith notched a pair of victories and hit a couple of NAIA National Champinship 'A' Qualifying Marks at the Hoosier Classic in Bloomington, Ind. Saturday.

Smith (Stone Mountain, Ga.) won the 60 Meter Dash and the 200 Meter Dash with times of 6.94 and 22.21 seconds, respectively to qualify for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championship Meet, which is scheduled for March 4-6 in Johnson City, Tenn.

Union also had two other 'B' Qualifying Marks hit. James Fowler (Dallas, Texas) placing fourth in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 22.44 seconds. The 4x400 relay team second in 3:22.42, which is good enough to qualify for nationals.

Fowler placed fifth in the 60 Meter Dash as well, crossing the line in 7.03 seconds, and Marekus Smith (Lithonia, Ga.) was seventh in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 22.88 seconds.

In the 400 Meter Dash, Santraz Andrews (Griffin, Ga.) took sixth with a time of 51.92 seconds. Daniel Kual (Stone Mountain, Ga.) placed third in the 1000 Meter Run (2:40.28) and 10th in the 600 Meter Run (1:29.04).

In the field events, Jared Ford (Frankfort, Ky.) was seventh in the Shot Put with a toss of 12.37 meters. Scotty Barnes (Ewing, Va.) finished second in the High Jump as he cleared 1.70 meters.

Union will next compete at the Depauw (Ind.) Invitational Saturday.
