DAYTON, Tenn. - Senior guard Curtis Stephens poured in a game-high 26 points to guiding Union College to a key 59-49 Appalachian Athletic Conference win at Bryan (Tenn.) College Wednesday.

The win bumps Union over .500 to 12-11 overall and 6-4 in conference play. Bryan dropped to 13-8 overall and 6-4 in the AAC.

Stephens (Detroit, Mich.) netted 17 of his 26 points in the first half as Union 35-26 halftime lead. The Bulldogs netted just 24 second-half points but were never threatened as they cruised to the 10-point victory.

For the game, Stephens went 8-for-16 from the floor and was 7-of-8 at the foul line, accounting for all seven of Union's made free throws. As team Union went 7-of-11 at the charity stripe.

Union never trailed and the score was tied just once.

Darrel Jackson (Jonesboro, Ark.) helped out with 10 points and was the only other Bulldog to hit double figures.

For Bryan, Scott Newton led the way with 16 points with Astral Guerrier netting 12 points.

Union returns to action Saturday when it plays host to Milligan (Tenn.) College in conference play at 6 p.m.
