WISE, Va. - Darrel Jackson scored with four seconds to play to lift Union College to an 80-78 Appalachian Athletic Conference win over host UVa-Wise Saturday.

The Bulldogs trailed 78-76with 1:27 remaining following a pair of Pance Kecev free throws. Jackson (Jonesboro, Ark.) got the ball to Josh Hurd (Independence, Ky.) for a layup, tying the score with 1:08 on the clock.

After stopping UVa-Wise on its next possession, Jackson drove the line and hit a jumper in the paint with four seconds to go, giving Union the 80-78 victory.

The win improved the Bulldogs to 11-11 overall and 5-4 in league play, while the Cavaliers dropped to 7-10 overall and 4-4 in the AAC.

UVa-Wise led the entire first half and by as much as 13 in the first half and took a 47-42 lead into the break.

Union took it first lead off a Hurd basket to make it 58-57 with 11:18 to go in the game. The score was tied eight times and the lead changed hands nine times in the second half alone.

Curtis Stephens (Detroit, Mich.) paced Union with 27 points with Jackson and Kearney Demus (Lexington, Ky.) each chipping in 11 points.

Five Cavaliers scored in double figures with Kecev's 16 points leading the way. Sam Eligwe and Josh Jordan chipped in 15 and 13 points, respectively, while Kevin Perry and Adam Hood netted 10 points apiece.

Union will pay Bryan (Tenn.) College a visit Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
