MONTREAT, N.C. - Union College needed a little extra time in collecting its first Appalachian Athletic Conference road win as it won 94-90 in overtime at Montreat (N.C.) College Saturday.

The win upped Union's record to 10-10 overall and 4-3 in conference play, while Montreat fell to 2-16 overall and 1-6 in the AAC.

The Bulldogs led 46-34 at the half, but the Cavaliers stormed back with 51 points in the second half as the game ended knotted at 85-85. Montreat shot only 39.5 percent in the second half but stayed in the game by hitting 21-of-23 free throws.

Union outscored Montreat 9-5 in the extended period to collect the 94-90 league win to pull its record back to .500.

The Bulldogs continue to shoot the ball well, draining 54.0 percent (34-of-63) of their shots from the field. Union also nailed half of its 3-point attempts in going 6-for-12 behind the arc. Conversely, Montreat only made 40.9 percent from both the floor (27-of-66) and from 3-point range (9-of-22).

Kearney Demus (Lexington, Ky.) scored a season-high 27 points, which also the most by any Bulldog this year. Darrel Jackson (Jonesboro, Ark.) and Curtis Stephens (Detroit, Mich.) each added 21 points with Stephens dishing out seven assists. Josh Hurd (Independence, Ky.) posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. James Johnson (Lexington, Ky.) led Union the glass with 13 boards to go with his six points.

Vincent Dombrowski and Terrell Mosley paced Montreat with 24 and 21 points, respectively. Matt Rushing knocked in 13, while Kevin Hanlon and Daniel Kennedy each contributed 10 points.

Union returns home Wednesday to play host to Reinhardt (Ga.) College in conference action. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
