CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Senior Armond Smith won the 55 Hurdles as the Union College men's indoor track & field team placed fifth at the Cedarville (Ohio) University Indoor Invitational Friday.

Smith (Stone Mountain, Ga.) edged out Justin Hoffman of Cedarville by 0.02 of a second to win the 55 Hurdles in 7.63 seconds.

As a team, the Bulldogs garnered 36 points for fifth place, four shy of fourth-place Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College. Cedarville won the eight-team meet with 230.5 points.

Christian White (Dallas, Texas) tied for fifth in the high jump by clearing 5 feet, 7.75 inches. White also placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 2.5 inches. In the pole vault, Andrew Johnston (Benton, Ky.) tied for fifth with Scotty Barnes (Stone Mountain, Ga.) placing seventh. Johnston cleared 11 feet, 6 inches, while Barnes best vault was 11 feet. Barnes placed eighth in the shot put with a toss of 40 feet, 7.75 inches.

In the 400 Meters, Smith crossed the line in fourth with a time of 54.46 seconds.

Union returns to action Friday and Saturday at the Niswonger Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn.
