BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College senior Brooke Smith added more hardware to her mantle as she was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Smith (Pineville, Ky.) averaged 22.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last week, helping the Lady Bulldogs go 1-1 at the Holiday Inn Express Invitational at Warner (Fla.) University in Lake Wales, Fla. The 6-foot forward/center also had four blocked shots on the week.

On the season, Smith leads the conference and ranks third in NAIA Division II in scoring with a 23.6 points-per-game average. She also paces the AAC in blocked shots with 1.8 per contest. Smith is the team's leading rebounding with 8.53 boards per game.

Smith became the Lady Bulldogs' all-time leading scorer earlier this season and currently has 2,379 career points. She ranks third on the all-time rebounding list with 846.

This is the first time Smith received the honor this season and the sixth time in her career.

Union (10-5 overall, 3-1 AAC) returns to conference play Wednesday when it visits Bluefield (Va.) College for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
