MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. - Senior Beau Brown posted a season-high 22 points, but it was not enough as Union College dropped a 97-92 Appalachian Athletic Conference contest to host Milligan (Tenn.) College Wednesday.

With the loss, Union is now 4-6 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Milligan, meanwhile, is 2-7 overall and 2-1 in the AAC.

Brown (Athens, Tenn.) hit 8-of-12 shots from the floor and went 2-for-5 from long range in scoring his team-best 22 points. He also grabbed a game-high eight points.

Down 42-39 at the half, Union kept things close and eventually took a 71-70 lead when Kearney Demus (Lexington, Ky.) completed an old-fashioned, three-point play with 8:17 left to play.

Milligan, though, reeled off an 11-1 run to take an 81-72 lead with 5:20 remaining.

The Bulldogs cracked up the offense, scoring 20 points during the final five minutes. However, it was too little, too late as Milligan held on for the 97-92 decision.

After Brown, Demus added 17 points with Payton Ponzer (Independence, Ky.) chipping in 16. Darrel Jackson (Jonesboro, Ark.) and Jerome Carmichael (Newport, Tenn.) helped out with 10 points apiece.

Torian Sitton paced Milligan with 23 points, while Justin Sylvester knocked in 22. Bryant Edwards contributed 18 points.

Union returns home Saturday to play host to Virginia Intermont College at 6 p.m.
