RIO GRANDE, Ohio - Union College scored big Saturday as it netted a 103-74 victory over Ohio University Chillicothe, giving head coach Sean Gillespie his first victory at the helm of the Bulldogs.

Union is now 1-3 on the season, while Ohio is 1-2 overall.

Six Bulldogs scored in double figures with Darrel Jackson (Jonesboro, Ark.) scoring a season-high 20 points. Jerome Carmichael (Newport, Tenn.) followed with 19 points with Beau Brown (Athens, Tenn.) netting 16, Kearney Demus (Lexington, Ky.) adding 14, Ponzer Payton (Independence, Ky.) scoring 12 and Josh Hurd (Independence, Ky.) having 11.

Union led 45-33 at the half before exploding for 58 second-half points en route to the 103-74 decision.

The Bulldogs hit 69.4 percent (25-of-36 shots) from the floor in the second half and finished the game making 57.5 percent (42-of-73 shots) of their shots.

Ohio was led by Nick Milliken's 21 points, while Anthony Gilbert and Buddy Barnes each contributing 11 points.

This is the first time Union cracked the century mark since Feb. 7, 2006, when the Bulldogs defeated Virginia Intermont College 109-107 in double-overtime.

The Bulldogs will open Appalachian Athletic Conference play Wednesday when UVa-Wise comes to Barbourville for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
