BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College received the Appalachian Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week awards Monday, the league announced. Patricia Nardy picked up the defensive award with Marcela Salum winning the offensive honor.

Nardy (Sao Paulo, Brazil) recorded a season-best 13 saves against the Cumberlands. She improved to 5-0 on the season.

Salum (Guatemala City, Guatemala) scored both goals in Union's 2-1 victory over the University of the Cumberlands on Wednesday. Her first goal came in the sixth minute with the game winner in the 98th minute. She has four multi-goal matches this season with two game-winning goals.

She won the AAC Offensive Player of the Week twice last season.

The two award winners are the first for the Lady Bulldogs' squad in 2009.

The Cumberlands win was the only contest for Union last week and it improved the Lady Bulldogs' record to 5-0.

Next on the schedule for Union is the Appalachian Athletic Conference opener at Bryan (Tenn.) College Wednesday at 5 p.m.
