BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College has added Christen Havens to the swim and bowling programs for the 2009-10 season.

Havens comes to Union from Gallatin High School located in Gallatin, Tenn. She also swam for the Excel Aquatics swim club. Havens was coached by John Barnes in the pool.

"I am happy to have Christen joining our program," Union head swim coach Rafael Forti said. "I know she will contribute right away. She has experience and will adjust to the collegiate level well."

Havens was selected into the Southeastern Swimming Hall of Fame in 2002.

"She is a strong swimmer and will add depth to our sprint freestyle and breaststroke events," Forti added.

Union finished the 2009 NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships in 12th place after a fourth-place finish at the Appalachian Swimming Conference Championship.

The Union bowling program starts its second season this year under the direction of Matt Mahony.
