MOBILE, Ala. - Union College saw the 2009 season end Tuesday after an 8-1 opening round loss at the NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship against No. 15 Xavier (La.) University.

Union's only point came when Katie Sakalauskas (Surrey, Canada) won her No. 4 singles' match. She won 6-4, 5-7 (11-9) over Jihanna Mughnee. Sakalauskas finished with a perfect 13-0 record in 2009. The senior wrapped up her career with 16 straight singles' victories.

Xavier improved to 19-6 on the season and moves on to play No. 5 Savannah (Ga.) College of Art and Design Wednesday in a second-round contest.
