BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College recently signed Brandon McClinchey to join the Bulldogs' soccer program for the 2009 season.
McClinchey is a native of Adrian, Michigan. He played at Tecumseh High School and with the Vardar Soccer Club squad. The newest Bulldog is a midfielder and outside back player.
"He is physical defender that gets in well on tackles and plays smart out of the back," Union head coach Tyler Brock commented. "I am also impressed that he can play on the left or the right side of the field."
Union finished the 2008 season with a 10-5-4 record including a 9-0-2 home record. The Bulldogs finished sixth in the Appalachian Athletic Conference behind a 3-3-1 record before losing in the quarterfinals after a shootout.
"Vardar is nationally known club and Michigan is hotbed for soccer talent," Brock added. "We are very happy to be landing a player from that area in our program."
