BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College women's soccer team picked up a big conference win last week, and because of that victory, a pair of Lady Bulldogs have landed Appalachian Athletic Conference honors. On Monday, freshman Ashley Hall and sophomore Brittany Puryear were named AAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, the league announced.

Union posted a 1-0 victory against Tennessee Wesleyan College on Saturday, improving its overall record to 2-2 and conference mark to 1-0.

Hall (Hazard, Ky.) netted the game's only goal, scoring in the 18th minute. It was the third game in a row the forward has scored as she leads the Lady Bulldogs with three goals and six points.

Puryear (Somerset, Ky.) made six saves in recording the shutout. On the year, Puryear has made 28 saves and a 1.75 goals-against average.

Union returns to action Tuesday when it pay Cumberland (Tenn.) University a visit. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
