BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – A goal from freshman Ashley Hall in the 18th minute was all Union College needed to defeat the visitors from Tennessee Wesleyan College in Appalachian Athletic Conference women’s soccer action on Saturday.

The Hazard, Ky. native has scored a goal in each of the last three matches to give her the team lead with three goals.

After the 1-0 win, Union improves to 2-2 overall while Tennessee Wesleyan moves to 1-3. Saturday’s contest also marked the first conference match for both squads.

Renata Peixoto (Brasilia, Brazil) was credited with the assist on Hall’s goal.

In goal for Union, Brittany Puryear (Somerset, Ky.) was credited with six saves. Tennessee Wesleyan’s Tiffani Martin stopped five Union shots in the match.

Tennessee Wesleyan held the advantage in shots, 16-to-14, and corner kicks, 6-to-4.

The Lady Bulldogs will make their first road trip of the season when they travel to Cumberland University on Tuesday. Kick off is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Lebanon, Tenn.
