BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College will try to snap a three-game skid Saturday when Covenant (Ga.) College visits for a 6 p.m. contest.

The Bulldogs lost a half-time lead at Tennessee Wesleyan College Wednesday in a 72-60 defeat. Union could only post 22 second-half points in the game. Beau Brown returned to his hometown of Athens and scored 14 points. James Johnson (Lexington, Ky.) also poured in 14 points. The loss was one of four times this season Union has lost a game when leading at halftime. The Bulldogs have won seven times when leading at halftime.

The results moved Union into a fourth-place tie with Bryan (Tenn.) College as the two share 8-7 conference records. Milligan (Tenn.) College lurks behind the two at 7-8. No. 8 Bluefield (Va.) College clinched the conference championship Wednesday as the Rams improved to 15-0. King (Tenn.) College owns a comfortable two-game lead for second spot over Tennessee Wesleyan. King enters Saturday with a 12-3 AAC mark and Tennessee Wesleyan went to 10-5 after Wednesday's game.

Brown continues to own Union's scoring lead by averaging 13.5 points per contest. He has scored in double-digits 19 times this season in 25 starts. Brown is the only Bulldog to start in every game.

Michael Hester (Independence, Ky.) provides 4.5 assists per game. Antonio Murry (Antioch, Tenn.) dishes out 2.9 assists as well.

Union's overall record stands at 12-13. This is the first time the Bulldogs own a sub-.500 record since December and a 6-7 record. Union jumped past .500 thanks to a pair of non-conference victories.

The Bulldogs are 12-4 when an opponent does not score more than 80 points.

The month of February has not been kind to Union as the Bulldogs are 0-3 so far. The last time Union started a month with four straight losses was December 2006.

The series history is in favor of Union. Since joining the AAC for the 2002-03 season, the Bulldogs own an 11-3 record. Inside Robsion Arena however, the Bulldogs are a perfect 6-0. Union has won four of the last five meetings including a 62-57 AAC Tournament win last season.

Covenant only has one AAC victory and it was over Virginia Intermont College 78-75 on Feb. 7. The conference triumph was one of two victories the Scots have this season. The first win for Covenant was against Urbana (Ohio) University, 63-53, on Nov. 22. In between Covenant dropped 16 games in a row.

The last time Covenant played, the Scots were bested by Montreat (N.C.) College 66-63. Davis Eldridge paced Covenant with 23 points and Stephen Buchanan added 11 points. Dominique McGaughhey dished out seven assists with six points and five rebounds.

Reed Crosson, Chris Hall and Eldridge all average 12.7 points per contest. J.R. Avery scores 11.3 per game as well.

The first time Union and Covenant met, on Lookout Mountain, the Bulldogs scored a 93-67 win on Jan. 14. The 93 points are the most scored by the Bulldogs this season.

Brown led all scorers with 20 points and Johnson chipped in a dozen points. Bill Davis (Harrodsburg, Ky.) also scored 12 points and collected six rebounds.

Union made 40 shots in 71 attempts which are currently season-best in both categories.

Eldridge and Buchanan contributed 18 points apiece in the defeat.
