GRAND ISLAND, Neb. - Union College senior linebacker Willie Williams landed on the 2008 College Fanz Sports Network NAIA All-American Second Team with five other Bulldogs earning honorable mentions, the organization announced.

The College Fanz Sports Newtork NAIA All-American Team is the former Victory Sports Network NAIA All-American Team.

Joining Williams (Miami, Fla.) on the team as honorable mentions are Quintin Borders (Lexington, Ky.), Kyle Callahan (Covington, Ky.), Terence Pollock (Orange Park, Fla.), Marekus Smith (Lithonia, Ga.) and Ty Harris (Monroe, Ga.).

Williams, a linebacker, has recorded a school-record 150 total tackles to go along with his 19.5 tackles for a loss and 11.5 sacks. He has forced five fumbles and recovered four, returning one 40 yards for a touchdown. Williams also has 14 quarterback hurries, three pass breakups and a blocked kick to his credit. He set the single-game record for tackles with 22 at Shorter and was named the NAIA and MSC Defensive Player of the Week following a 13-tackle performance at Lambuth (Tenn.) University on Sept. 6.

Borders has been an anchor on the Bulldog offensive line at left tackle. He has started all 12 games and helped Union gain 1,691 yards on the ground and 2,663 through the air. Against Faulkner (Ala.) University, he and the rest of the offensive line led way as Union gained 517 yards in total offense and 334 yards rushing.

Callahan, a wide receiver, set the single-season and career records for most touchdown receptions as he has 13 this season and 23 for his career. He has caught 49 passes for 700 yards in 2008 and ranks third all-time with 125 receptions. His 1,789 receiving yards rank second in program history. He as named the MSC Offensive Player of the Year after he hauled in nine catches for 136 yards and two scores in a 31-24 win over Campbellsville (Ky.) University on Nov. 8.

Pollock, a running back, set the single-season rushing record as he galloped 1,331 yards on 234 carries. He scored 11 rushing touchdowns and caught 10 passes for 82 yards and another score. Pollock had six 100-yard games this season, including the last three games in a row. He was twice named the MSC Offensive Player of the Week.

Smith, a linebacker, has amassed 100 total tackles, 15 tackles for a loss of 50 yards and four sacks, all of which rank second on the team. In addition, he has two interceptions, seven pass breakups and quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles and three blocked kicks. Earlier in the season, he was named the MSC Defensive Player of the Week after an eight-tackle, one-sack performance against Georgetown (Ky.) College on Sept. 27.

Harris, a defensive back, has made 34 total tackles this season with one going for a loss of 2 yards. In addition, he has two interceptions and ranks fifth all-time with nine career picks. Harris has broken up eight passes and forced one fumble.

The Bulldogs won a program-best nine games in 2008, going 9-3 overall and 5-1 in the Mid-South Conference East. Union also made its first-ever appearance in the NAIA Football Championship Series and finished the year ranked No. 10 in the nation.
