BRISTOL, Tenn. - Union College ended the Appalachian Athletic Conference season with a 3-2 setback at King (Tenn.) College Thursday.

Union dropped the opening set, 25-16, before winning the next two with scores of 25-18 and 25-20. King forced the fifth set with a 25-19 win in the fourth. The fifth set went to the home team with a 15-10 score.

After the match, Union moved to 19-9 overall and 14-4 in the conference. The Lady Bulldogs' four-match winning streak was also snapped. Union will enter the AAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed. King, the AAC Regular-Season Champions went to 16-1 in conference play and 23-8 overall.

Stephanie Pateman (Weyburn, Canada) led the team with 17 kills while Brooke Vinovich (Somerset, Ky.) added 10 more. Autumn Combs (Florence, Ky.) recorded six kills with her four total blocks.

Monica Moreland (Louisville, Ky.) posted her 19th 30-plus assist match with 37. She also was credited with a season-best 19 digs.

Christina Prindle (Florence, Ky.) added 19 digs while Meg Donnelly (Middletown, Ohio) served three aces.

Next on the schedule for Union is a trip to Williamsburg, Ky. for a pair of matches Saturday. First for the Lady Bulldogs is a 2 p.m. match with Indiana University Southeast followed by a 4 p.m. contest against University of the Cumberlands.

Lady Bulldog Notes

  • Of Union's nine losses this season, three have been at home, three on the road and three on neutral courts.
  • In five-set matches, Union went to 2-2 this season.
  • Since joining the AAC in 2002, the Lady Bulldogs are 3-11 in regular-season matches against King.
  • Moreland surpassed the 800 assists and 300 digs marks for the season.
  • Union ended the month of October with an 8-5 record.
